Learning about healthy lifestyles including nutrition, physical literacy, and the ability to relax is integral to wellbeing and self-confidence at any age.
Nutrition - inclusions
We pride ourselves on providing children with good whole food nutrition that is prepared onsite daily. All meals are prepared in house by our qualified chef. Our menu is rotated on a four weekly basis that ensures all children are provided with a variety of wholesome food, no matter what days they attend.
We take special care to ensure that food allergies and special dietary needs dictated by medical conditions are catered for, whilst encouraging the fussy eaters to develop an attitude of giving everything a try.
Children will be offered morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack on a daily basis. These meals are included as part of your normal fees.
Your child’s holistic health is important to us which is why we make drinking water available for every child throughout the day. We encourage families to pack water bottles clearly named and offer children water with every meal. Water contains no sugar or fat and helps to prevent teeth problems. Encouraging children to drink water builds healthy habits for life.
Physical literacy – inclusions
We offer children age appropriate physical environments where they can experiment with their physicality taking acceptable risks to extend their physical capabilities. We are also very aware of the guidelines for all children to have at least 60 minutes of activity in every day in order to maintain healthy development.
Our links with the new physical literacy programs based on worldwide research and guided by our partners at the University of Canberra will ensure that children’s physical skills are not neglected at Edge Early Learning. It is well documented that physical development follows a prescribed pattern and children learn better when physical movement is a part of their learning.
